Mr. Freeze, a notable DC character, is often portrayed as a tragic villain driven by his love for his terminally ill wife, Nora Fries.

His origin story typically involves an accident during his cryogenic research, resulting in a sub-zero body temperature that necessitates him wearing a specialized suit to survive. He has to remain in sub zero temperatures to stay alive, hence the name.

While the character first appeared in *Batman* #121 (February 1959) as Mr. Zero, his sympathetic and tragic backstory has evolved over the years, making him a far more complex figure. The Lego Batman Movie version had the character voiced by actor John Early.
